2 Suitable Methods of Converting CM to Inches in Excel

This is the dataset that I am going to use to demonstrate the methods. I have some students along with their heights in centimeters. I will convert these heights to inches.

1. Divide CM by 2.54 to Convert CM into Inches

The relation between centimeter and inch is as follows
1 inch = 2.54 cm

So, we can convert from centimeter to inch by dividing the number (in cm) by 2.54

Steps:

  • Go to cell D5. Write down the formula
=C5/2.54

  • Press ENTER. Excel will return the output.

  • Now use the Fill Handle to AutoFill up to D11.

2. Apply CONVERT Function for Converting CM to Inches

Now I will use the CONVERT function to convert centimeters to inches.

Steps:

  • Go to cell D5 and write down the following formula
=CONVERT(C5,"cm","in")

Meanwhile, while writing this formula, Excel will show you the list of units. You can choose from them or write manually.

  • Now, press ENTER. You will get the result.
