In the following section, I have shared 3 easy and simple steps to add a title to a table in Excel. To illustrate, I have taken a dataset containing some Student Names, their IDs, and Departments. Now, our goal is to add a title to this table in Microsoft Excel.

Step 1: Insert a Row at the Top of the Table

  • Firstly, we will select the cell A1.
  • After selecting the cell, right-click the mouse button to open the Context Menu.
  • From the menu, choose “Insert”.

  • A new window will pop up named “Insert”.
  • From there choose “Entire row” and then press OK to continue.

Step 2: Type the Title According to Table

  • As you can see a new row is created at the top of the dataset.
  • Now type the title of your choice you want for your dataset.

Step 3: Change Format of the Title

  • After typing the title, it’s time to make the title look like a title.
  • To do so, choose cells A1:D1 and click “Merge & Center” to merge all the cells and center the title name.

  • Change the font to “14”.
